RML Hosts Mary Swander & Mary Jane White for a Poetry Reading

The Robey Memorial Library in Waukon will host a poetry reading with Mary Swander and Mary Jane White on Thursday, December 14 at 7pm.

Mary Swander, Iowa Poet Laureate (2009-Present), poet, playwright, and nonfiction writer, draws her inspiration from the landscape and its people. From the Iowa Amish to the New Mexico mystics, she has captured the extraordinary folkways and idioms in the ordinary person's life.

Mary Jane White is a poet and translator who practices law at her home, the O. J. Hager House in Waukon, Iowa. Her poetry and translations received NEA Fellowships in 1979 and 1985. She taught briefly at the University of Iowa and Luther College, and has practiced law for the last 33 years.

Both poets will have published works available for purchase. Robey Memorial Library will also have books available for checkout beginning in December. Please contact Robey Memorial Library at (563) 568-4424 or www.waukon.lib.ia.us with questions.
