Children's Book Week April 30-6, 2018

RML celebrates Children's Book Week

Children's Book Week, April 30th through May 6th 2018, is the national celebration of books and reading for youth.Established in 1919, it is the longest-running literacy initiative in the country.

This year, RML will observe the occasion with:

  • an Adult vs. Teens/Kids Reading Challenge
  • a “Pete the Cat” Story Time
  • a Rock Painting Event for Allamakee Libraries Rock
  • an Ice Cream Party

Here’s how the reading challenge works: Pick up a reading log at the library or print one from our website; throughout the week, read in 15 minute increments; keep track of your minutes and turn them in at the library. The library will keep track of group totals to see who can read the most: adults or teens/kids!

Pete the Cat Story Time, complete with the character appearance, will be on Tuesday, May 1st at 10:30-11:00am.

Activities on Friday, May 4th from 4:00-5:30pm will include a Rock Painting Event (see our website or Facebook page for more details) and enjoy an ice cream treat with the Dairy Princess, Grace Howe. For more information contact us at 563-568-4424 or www.waukon.lib.ia.us.
