Portrait of an Unknown Woman by Vanora Bennett

Portrait of an Unknown WomanNot typically an historical fiction devotee I applaud Vanora Bennett’s debut novel, Portrait of an Unknown Woman.  The reader is transported back to turbulent Europe during the Protestant Reformation.  Bennett breathes life into Sir Thomas More, Henry VIII’s chancellor; More’s extended family; and Hans Holbein, a German painter.  The pages come alive with the author’s use of historical fact and her imaginative development of characters.  It was a great read!
