Children's Book Week May 2-7, 2016

Children's Book Week, May 2nd – 7th 2016, is the national celebration of books and reading for youth.

Established in 1919, it is the longest-running literacy initiative in the country. This year, Robey Memorial Library will observe Children’s Book Week with an Adult vs. Kids Reading Challenge. Here’s how it works:

  • Pick up a reading log at the library or print one from our website
  • Read in 15 minute increments and keep track of your minutes
  • Turn your totals in at the library and add to the window decoration in the Children’s, Teen and Adult areas of the library.

The library will be keeping track of group totals to see who can read the most: adults or kids!

All participants can add their names to a drawing for prizes. Participants will receive a special “Bookworm Treat” and on Friday, May 6th from 4-6pm stop in to enjoy ice cream served by the Allamakee County Dairy Princess, Mikayla Gavin. Throughout the week materials will be available for patrons to make a unique book mark to keep.

Children’s Book Week is being generously sponsored by the Allamakee County Dairy Board.

All are encouraged to participate!
