RML encourages reading throughout the summer with our Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading Program includes special programming & the Summer Reading Challenge.

Summer Reading Challenge

  • Kids are challenged to read for prizes.  Special prizes for top readers.
  • Reading Challenge begins in July (see Upcoming Events for specific dates).
  • Participant categories:
    • Category 1 is for infants through children who have completed third grade. Time read for infants and toddlers this includes books read to the child by an adult or older sibling.
    • Category 2 is for children who have completed fourth grade through teens who have completed eighth grade. Count the time read from age-appropriate books, with exceptions being made when reading to a younger child.
  • Other Challenge rules include:
    • A reading log will be provided to each child, where they can keep track of their summer reading. This log must be brought in to be redeemed for prizes once a week. [Log can be picked up at the library or printed off our website.]

Family Night

  • The summer reading program kicks off with Family Night in the beginning of July (see Upcoming Events for specific date).
  • Register for the Reading Challenge and enjoy special programs and a story time.

Story TimeKids read

  • Every Tuesday, 10:30-11 am
  • Special readers throughout the summer!

Make & Take Wednesday

  • Four weeks during the summer we offer Make & Take Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30 pm.
  • Stop in anytime during the two hours to participate in an activity & take the results home!
