ISBA People's Law School: Buying and Selling a Home in IA

Robey Memorial Library in Waukon is hosting the ISBA People’s Law School series through April 21.

Our library is partnering with the Iowa State Bar Association (ISBA) to bring free high-quality adult programming to our community. On Tuesday, January 21 from 5:30-7:30pm, the ISBA will live-stream a free educational event focused on the basics of buying and selling a home in Iowa. Topics to be discussed include:

  • An overview of real estate law for home owners
  • Abstracts and mortgages
  • Neighbors, property lines and easements

This session’s speaker is Scott Hall, a partner in Carney & Appleby Law. Scott’s practice is centered around property rights.  He practices in all areas of real estate, probate, estate planning, business, and civil litigation.  Scott routinely balances both transactional matters and trial work.  He is engaged in nearly every area of the law from personal injury and medical malpractice litigation to subrogation claims to business and property transactions both basic and complex.  Scott’s background in business, research and writing, and trial work has allowed him to advocate for clients in many different venues with purpose and professionalism.

Future topics in this series are as follows: February 18—Elder Abuse; March 10—Employment Law; April 21—Information on Limited Scope and Self-representation.
