Robey Memorial Library in Waukon will observe World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, February 5th with day-long activities planned.

Activities include volunteers from the community and library staff reading out loud in 15-minute increments throughout the entire day from 10:00am-8:00pm. Readers may choose their own material or read from selected books in-house.  Community members interested in participating in reading can contact the library at 563-568-4424 or robeymemorial@waukon.lib.ia.us.

Additional activities include a Story Time at 10:30-11:00am and a self-guided Story Walk for the book Mother Bruce by Ryan T. Higgins with an interactive booklet available for each participant to complete as they moved though the library reading at each of the 8 locations.

LitWorld founded World Read Aloud Day in 2010 as an opportunity for people all around the globe to celebrate the joy of reading aloud, and advocate for literacy as a fundamental human right that belongs to everyone. Over the last ten years, World Read Aloud Day has evolved into a global movement of millions of readers, writers, and listeners from communities all across the world coming together to honor the joy and power of reading and sharing stories, and continue expanding the definition and scope of global literacy.
