Come and learn from experienced mushroom log cultivators how to small-scale log grow gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. Get hands on experience in the inoculation process. Learn the importance mushrooms hold in everyday life within our bodies and environment. Discover the difference between bag grown and hardwood log grown mushrooms as well as the challenges and advantages presented by each method.

Emily and Christopher Appelman of Stone Hollow Gardens and Shroomery run a homestead in the Driftless Region. The Appelmans have hardwood log cultivated mushrooms on their homestead for over 5 years.

This program is presented in part by the Allamakee County Master Gardeners. Please contact Robey Memorial Library at (563) 568-4424 or www.waukon.lib.ia.us with questions.
