“Imagine Your Story” Summer Reading Program (SRP) 2020 at Robey Memorial Library comes to an end. A simplified version of both the teen and kids SRP was held due to COVID-19 allowing families to make as few as one trip into the library to participate.

The 4-Week Reading Challenge ran from July 6th – August 1st with participants marking their reading and/or activities and play on an Activity Card. Kids, infant to 6th grade, had the choice of completing 1-10 spaces, 11-20 spaces or blacking out the Activity Card to receive weekly prizes in addition to adding their name to 3 different prize drawings for a Book-Movie-Plushy Combo, Magna Tiles Ice set, or Ice Cream w/ the Librarian. 58 children registered, 29 participated with a total of 792 activities completed.  Prize Drawing winners were Thad Green / Book-Movie-Plushy Combo, Emma Berges / Ice Cream with the Librarian, Magna Tiles Ice / Asher Gerst.  “Library Champion” signs were given to children to display at their homes; you may have seen these around town.

The Teen SRP followed a similar pattern by counting completed reading related activities for weekly prizes and entry into a grand prize drawing. 9 teens registered, 5 participated with 121 activities completed. Winner of the Grand Prize Drawing of $50.00 in Waukon Bucks was Alyssa Connelly.

A new on-going feature added in June was Grab & Go Activity Bags featuring simple projects for kids and teens to make at home and keep. To date, 212 bags have been distributed. This program continues through the end of the year with new activity bags available on the second Wednesday of each month.
