Robey Memorial Library (RML) is proud to announce the offering of an American Sign Language (ASL) course, catering to individuals eager to broaden their communication skills and understanding of Deaf culture. The six-week program, presented by experienced instructor Michele Gerlach, will take place on Wednesdays, March 20 through April 24, from 6-8pm in the lower level Community Room at RML.

Michele Gerlach, deeply rooted in the Deaf Community, brings her wealth of experience and passion for ASL to this educational series. Participants will have the unique opportunity to learn from Michele as she shares the value of ASL and provides guidance on translating ASL to the English language.

The comprehensive course curriculum will cover essential topics, including:

·         Effective communication strategies with hard of hearing and Deaf individuals

·         Understanding the five sign parameters of hand shapes

·         Common greetings in ASL

·         Learning the ASL alphabets

·         Mastering numbers 1-10 in ASL

·         And much more!
