As part of Live & Learn: enriching lives through monthly learning series, RML is offering Becoming a Dementia Friend on Thursday, August 27 at 5 pm in the lower level Community Room.
Community members are invited to become a Dementia Friend by attending a free one-hour informational session. Presented by Madison Montorsi, this interactive session is designed to help participants better understand dementia and learn simple, practical ways to support individuals living with the disease. No prior knowledge or personal connection to dementia is required.
During the discussion, participants will:
· Learn the basics of dementia and how it affects individuals and families.
· Discover effective communication tips for interacting with people living with dementia.
· Explore local community resources available for individuals and caregivers.
· Gain practical ideas for creating a more supportive and inclusive community.
The session is led by a certified Dementia Friends Champion and is part of the Dementia Friends initiative, which encourages people to turn understanding into action through small, meaningful acts of kindness and support.
Whether you know someone living with dementia or simply want to make your community more welcoming and informed, this session offers valuable insights for everyone. Organizations and community groups interested in hosting a future Dementia Friends session are also encouraged to attend to learn more about scheduling a presentation.
The program is free and open to the public.
