Robey Memorial Library in Waukon provides in-library browsing, reading, and computer use during regular hours—Monday through Thursday, 10am-8pm; Friday, 10am-6pm; and Saturday, 10am-4pm. This week, RML encourages all community members to visit their website to explore and access virtual services and programs. Robey Memorial Library offers a wide array of online resources that are available from the comfort of home, including:

  • BRIDGES offers ebook and audiobook downloads available through bridges.overdrive.com or the Overdrive or Libby apps on your favorite device.
  • HelpNow is an online resource for live tutoring, study tools, building academic skills, collaborative learning, and adult learning center.
  • JobNow/VetNow is an online resource for career services, test prep, and software tutorials. Includes specialized services for veterans and their families.

The theme for National Library Week 2022, “Connect with Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes—in addition to books. Most importantly libraries also connect communities to each other. Overall, the theme is an explicit call to action—an invitation for communities to join, visit, or advocate for their local libraries.

Robey Memorial Library is supporting the community with in-library services during our regular hours such as access to public computers and printing; free Wi-Fi access; work spaces in our main library and study rooms; and Grab and Go activity bags monthly for children and teens. Other regular programs include:

  • Live & Learn: a once a month program offering an activity or speaker to enrich your life. Upcoming programs include—Villisca Axe Murders of 1912 with Dr. Edgar Epperly in April; the LaCrosse NOAA in May; Using BRIDGES in June; Jen Loeb the first Iowa woman to summit Mt. Everest (August).
  • Pinterest Projects: bi-monthly class featuring a project found on Pinterest and materials will be provided by the library.
  • Table Game Day: bi-monthly program offering the opportunity play and learn to play table games.
  • Chess Club: offered Monday afternoons April through October.
  • Tech Tutor: drop-in computer and technology help offered Thursday mornings.
